Job description
We are currently seeking a Communication Assistant for our Africa office in Lomé to work under the supervision of the Communication team based in Berlin (headquarter of Climate Analytics). The Communication Assistant will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of the Africa Office’s communication strategies. This role requires strong expertise in climate or development communication, excellent writing and content production skills, and the ability to translate scientific or policy findings for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate is strategic, creative, and experienced in driving communication initiatives in international or African development contexts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of the Africa Office communication strategy including annual communication plans, project-specific communication plans in close collaboration with the Global Communications Team.
  • Ensure communication planning for projects, policy brief outputs, and research publications.
  • Draft, edit, and/or proofread a variety of communication materials, including articles, policy briefs, web content, etc. in line with Climate Analytics’ editorial standards.
  • Design and produce communication materials, including graphics, infographics, and visual content in coordination with the Content Team.
  • Support the development and maintenance of media relations across Africa.
  • In collaboration with the Content Team support communication for webinars, workshops, conferences and events.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal communication with project teams within the Africa Office to ensure coherence and consistency of messaging.
  • Maintain and regularly update communication archives, databases, contact lists, and media monitoring tools.
  • Report on communication activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Your profile
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communication, public relations, environmental studies, political science, or related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in communication, public relations, journalism, or science communication.
  • Experience working with African or international organizations, preferably in climate change, sustainable development, or environmental fields.
  • Demonstrated experience producing communication strategies and high-quality content.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills both in French and English.
  • Strong digital communication skills (social media management, analytics tools).
  • Knowledge of graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) is an advantage.
  • Video production or photography skills are a plus.
  • Strong networking, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Salary: 9,130,173 XOF Yearly gross 
Terms: Initial one year contract with a view to extend 2 years based on performance and
funding, we are interested in and seek long-term cooperation.
