Job description
The Office Director is an experienced individual that oversees the strategic direction and operational management of the North America office. The Director is responsible for developing the office regional strategy, for its implementation, monitoring and reporting on progress to the Management Team and Executive Team of CA. This role is critical in managing our relationships with UN agencies, country missions, and key stakeholders in the region, facilitating projects that align with our global mission of limiting global warming to below 1.5°C. The Director will also lead content development, ensure the regional relevance of our outputs, and expand our role and influence within the region, particularly in relation to the United Nations Headquarters. This position requires close coordination with the head of the diplomacy team to ensure that our strategies are seamlessly integrated into broader organizational objectives and UN processes.
The Office Director will be responsible for managing and developing a team of administrative and content staff, as well as developing and implementing office policies and procedures in line with broader company policies. Additionally, the Office Director will be responsible for overseeing budgeting and forecasting for the office and will be the primary point of contact of the office for external funders, and partners.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Content Direction
- Develop and implement a regional office strategy that aligns with the organization's global mission, objectives and content strategy.
- Lead and/or oversee the content direction of the team’s outputs, ensuring they are innovative, relevant, and impactful.
- Actively engage with the United Nations headquarters by hosting events and participating in key discussions on climate change related issues.
- Expand the organization’s role and visibility within the region by participating in major UN events, networking with diplomats and policy makers, and leading advocacy efforts.
- Coordinate with the Head of Diplomacy and team leads for SIDS and LDCs to leverage New York's strategic location for advancing Climate Analytics’ diplomatic and advocacy efforts with the UN and related entities.
- Regularly report progress on strategic initiatives to the Management Team and Executive Team and contribute to programme strategies of the organisation.
- Assess and adapt strategies in response to regional dynamics and global trends.
- Strengthen collaboration with CA Headquarters and other regional offices, enhancing organizational cohesion.
External Engagement and Relationship Building
- Represent the office in external events and increase the visibility of Climate Analytics.
- Act as the primary representative of Climate Analytics at high-level diplomatic forums, including UN events and meetings, to strengthen relationships and advance organizational goals. Work closely with the Head of the Diplomacy Team to align these engagements with broader strategic objectives.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with NGOs, stakeholders, partners and donors, universities, think tanks and research organisations in the region.
Financial and Operational Oversight
- Oversee office finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring financial sustainability.
- Secure funding and manage financial operations in collaboration with the Project Development and Partnerships teams.
- Liaise with CA Headquarters for financial reporting and monitoring.
Project and Team Leadership
- Lead fundraising initiatives and actively engage with current and potential funders.
- Manage the development of a project pipeline that supports the strategic goals of the office.
- Ensure successful delivery of projects, including meeting timelines, objectives, and budgets.
- Lead and manage a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Oversee HR and organizational matters, ensuring alignment with the organisation policies and developing strategies for personnel planning, recruitment, retention, and training.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure that office operations comply with organizational policies as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Oversee administrative functions, including taxes, payroll, and Board meetings.
